I went from loving the movie to just thinking it's okay, so much more happens in the book.
And as someone who went on a Mayan archaeological dig as part of her curriculum in college I had an extra connection to the plot, lol.3.5 ⭐️This book started out in an odd way and with what felt like, to me was a rocky tone. Three survivors travel the ruins of a collapsed society, sifting through the rusted relics of the ancients' civilization as they search for a better future, hoping to escape the horrors of the past.
A breakfast buffet was offered here every morning: eggs and pancakes and French toast, juice and coffee and tea, an immense pile of fresh fruit.
I'm looking forward to the last book.
Like eating a bag of crisps, if you will.

I have 7 to 10 books that I always keep extra copies of, so when I meet a horror fan who hasn't read one of my favorites, all I have to do is grab an extra from my bookshelves and say, here, give this one a shot.

Really thought provoking. Unfortunately, you may as well just watch the trailer and read the first forty pages of the book, because beyond that, it doesn't deliver.
