EW has confirmed the Devil Inside and The Boy series filmmaker will helm Esther, a planned prequel to Jaume Collet-Serra’s 2009 horror hit starring Hunger Games actress Isabelle Fuhrman as … Searching her room, Kate found Esther's Bible and saw an inscription by declaring that the book was the property of the Saarne Institute. As Kate becomes further convinced that something is wrong with Esther, John, who does not believe her, suggests that Esther could do something nice for Kate. In the meantime, Kate discovered that Saarne was not an orphanage, but a mental institution. Kate went looking for Max and got shot by Leena with the revolver that she found in the house in the process. Leena pleads with Kate to save her while hiding a knife behind her back, before Kate tells Leena that she’s not her mother and kicks her in the head, killing her and sending her back into the water. When Esther points out the wine bottle she found in the kitchen, John decides to take some time away from Kate, taking the children before demanding a divorce if Kate doesn't go into rehab. When the police caught her, she pretended to be a child to avoid jail time and was sent to the orphanage where she found her first family of victims and moved on to the Colemans. Esther watches as Daniel tries to escape the tree house she set on fireAn action shot- Kate slaps Esther in the hospital and swears at her.As the now-widowed Kate was coming out of sedation, she got a call from the Saarne Institute's director named Dr. Värava who revealed to her that Esther was not a 9 year old girl at all, but a 33 year old woman named Leena Klammer. Kate grabbed Esther's arm to get the flowers back and Esther ran away with a scream. She has Kate and Max escape to a frozen pond, unaware that Leena is pursuing them.
Max tries to shoot Leena but shatters the ice, sending Leena and Kate into the freezing water. Realizing what Esther did, Kate attacks her but is restrained and sedated. When Kate got home, she was finally pushed over the edge after discovering her husband dead. While Daniel is in the hospital, Esther smothers him with a pillow but he is quickly revived. Kate wanted to bring her to a therapist named Dr. Browning, but John did not want to make all of that fuss about "One little dirty word." Kate becomes suspicious when Esther expresses far more knowledge of sex than expected of a child her age, but John tells her not to worry about it, as she may have picked this up from her other foster parents. Eventually, she tried to seduce the father and when that failed, she killed him and his family and setted fire to the house. The film was released theatrically in the United States on July 24, 2009. Kate crawled out of the hole and was followed by Leena. She catches Daniel spying on her, interrogates him, and threatens to kill him if he tells his parents.

Leena attacks Kate, knocking the gun away and hurling them onto the ice. Esther Coleman/Leena Klammer is the main character and antagonist in the movie The Orphan. Leena and Kate fell into the freezing water. Leena was continuing her efforts to find romantic/physical love in the only form that she understood which was a father figure.
