Eneco and Shell Netherlands will build and exploit – in consortium Crosswind – the subsidy-free offshore wind farm, Hollandse Kust (Noord) on the North Sea. These fully enclosed storage facilities, ranging from 1,000m3 to 100,000m3, offer maximum control in material handling, while saving operational costs and valuable space for expansion. It will feature 69 wind turbines and should be operational in 2023. The most significant benefit of using the Eurosilo storage and handling system in a coal fired power station is, first and foremost, efficient and flexible use of space. The CrossWind venture will include 69 wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa, each with a capacity of 11MW, and a rotor diameter of 200m, according to the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy. The wind farm will be located 18.5 km off the Dutch coast near the town of Egmond aan Zee. This wind farm is currently under construction. Shell and Eneco win Hollandse Kust Noord auction. Shell aims to produce green hydrogen on the Tweede Maasvlakte using green electricity from wind power.
